The Lake District is England's most mountainous area, and is home to its highest peak, Scafell Pike (978 metres).

Newlands valley is located southwest of Keswick and provides oportunities for walking, scrambling and climbing. These pictures were taken in March - only the highest peaks retained any snow at this time.
